Many parents are very concerned about their kid’s weight. What many don’t realize is that you don’t need some fancy cookbook to tell you how to feed your children in a natural and healthy way. All it takes is a little bit of basic knowledge and you will have your kids eating green in no time. Also if you start them on the path to eating green while they are young, you may find that they grow into adults who make healthy choices.

The first things you can start with are some healthy smoothies. One thing that children really enjoy is something that taste like a sugar filled smoothie. Using fresh fruit like bananas, apples, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are a great base for your smoothies. What is really nice about a fruit smoothie is that you can add some vegetables that your child may not normally eat. For example you can make a regular banana smoothie which is mixed with blueberries, some cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Add in about a handful of spinach and you will have a great tasting healthy drink for your children.

You can even create a smoothie that has carrots and all kinds of vegetables in it. Many green vegetables don’t have much flavor to them so you will only taste the fruit in most of these drinks. When adding the greens to these drinks it should only be done in a small amount. This will keep the color from changing too much. Remember if it looks tasty the kids will enjoy it even more. You can also add some ginger root oil which helps with healthy digestion.

I would not recommend replacing any of their meals with a smoothie. Instead I would highly recommend adding the smoothie to their meal. They will feel full longer and you will be amazed at how they are able to maintain their energy during the day. In my experience I have found that kids are better able to focus their attention when they are still feeling full. In some schools kids eat a later lunch than what they are used too which can affect their thinking ability in the classroom.

It will also help your children to maintain a healthy weight, which is the focus for many parents. You can even have your children help you with the smoothie recipes. They can add in different types of fruits in vegetables. Even kids who don’t usually like vegetables seem to be fascinated with the entire vegetable and fruit blending process. This may encourage them to eat a lot healthier in a very short period of time.
