What is foundation human nature?
foundation human nature (fhn) is an international non-governmental organisation (NGO) which is based in the UK,
Germany and the USA. fhn was formed in 2001 by a group working together in Ecuador. They shared a vision for sustainable development and
the importance of providing basic health-care to communities lacking this basic human need. Today, fhn co-ordinates projects in the two target
countries of Ecuador and Ghana.
Each project shares the same fundamental principles of providing affordable healthcare to a local community that previously had none, in a culturally
and socially sensitive manner.
This service is provided by establishing and running fhn Health Centres which are constructed by the local people. fhn works together with the local
community to treat the varied medical and health related problems faced by the people who live and work in the area.
Once fhn has built up trust and confidence from the local communities with health projects, this partnership can extend the scope of its projects
to focus upon the related needs of education, sanitation and the provision of clean water in the area. fhn is also committed to working with renewable
energy.
Each project run by fhn aims to involve and work with the local community as much as possible. Ultimately, the end point of each project will be for
members of the local community to operate and run each Health Centre. To this end, alongside running the Health Centres, fhn trains locals with
the skills that will be necessary to enable them to take over the provision of health care within their community.
Fundamentally fhn has no religious, political or philosophical ties and the charity is run exclusively by volunteers in the UK, Germany and the USA.
